Way inAround 24,000 to 30,000You are the person people call when something is broken, booked or blocked. You log it, get the right trade to it, and chase it to done.
How you get in: Strong route for anyone with customer service or admin experience who wants to move into a technical field.
Unlocks: Level 2 or Level 3 Facilities Services apprenticeship
Maintenance Technician
TechnicianAround 30,000 to 40,000You keep the building working: fault-finding, planned servicing and repairs across plumbing, electrics, fabric and plant.
How you get in: An apprenticeship, or a move across from a trade. Multi-skilled technicians are the hardest people for an estate to replace.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer
TechnicianAround 34,000 to 45,000You maintain and test the electrical systems a lab or an office cannot run without, and you are the one who gets the power back.
How you get in: Electrical apprenticeship then the 18th Edition and testing qualifications. In constant demand across Oxfordshire.

HVAC / Refrigeration Engineer
TechnicianAround 35,000 to 48,000You look after heating, cooling, ventilation and cold storage. In a lab building this is critical work, because the science depends on stable conditions.
How you get in: Apprenticeship or a move from plumbing or mechanical maintenance, plus your F-Gas ticket.
Unlocks: Level 3 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, F-Gas certification
Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician
TechnicianAround 35,000 to 48,000You run the software and controls that keep a building at the right temperature, pressure and air quality, and you spot the fault before anyone feels it.
How you get in: Usually from electrical or HVAC maintenance, plus manufacturer training. A good route for someone technical who likes screens as much as spanners.
Unlocks: Electrical or controls apprenticeship plus BMS manufacturer training
Facilities Manager
LeadingAround 40,000 to 55,000You run the whole operation: the teams, the contracts, the budgets, the safety and compliance, and the relationship with everyone using the buildings.
How you get in: Reached from coordinator or technician roles. The IWFM qualifications are the recognised ladder and can be done part-time.
Unlocks: IWFM Level 4 or Level 5, or a facilities management degree apprenticeship
